Its one of the biggest fashion events/exhibitions of the year again in New York City, The Met Gala! This time the theme is Charles James: Beyond Fashion. Last year we had a theme where punk meets couture. The photos here show who wore what at the Met Gala and my favorites. We must all remember that British Born Charles James was Americas First Couturier who always had a high structured aesthetic. He had pretty edgy designs with large flowy skirts and his mermaid dresses like the one above that was at the exhibition at The Met Gala. Seeing how celebrities are dressed for this fashion event and also the exhibition of Charles James, makes we wanna be there as a person who can't get enough of fashion. I hope to attend this event someday if I study in New York City next year.
I can see that some of the celebrities are dressed so well for the theme of the event with the really large skirts especially one of our favorite fashion icons, Sarah Jessica Parker of Sex and The City. I shall say that she is the best dressed at the event in her Oscar De la Renta gown. The second best is Rosie Huntington Whiteley in Balmain. I love how that dress is seriously very edgy with animal prints and leather. Id seriously wear that going to fashion week anywhere in the world. I also love how the studs are structured and I love her gladiator sandals as well.
Its really exciting to see the many styles of the celebrities, from classic, to edgy, to romantic. I always love fashion exhibitions. Ive been to one in Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC and one in Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Irvine, California. So Id like to attend something like this someday. I really think that Charles James's collections are really Beyond Fashion with how they are structured. They are classic and edgy at the same time. The wide flowing skirts are the assets that make the dresses stand out the most.
